Purchasable Physical Upgrade: An adorable @#*$% arsenal of diabetic teddy bears

When it comes to games with physical toy accompaniments, Type 1 diabetes is no exception. Except that they are all teddy bears.

Game Design Background: Physical Toy Accompaniments

In the early 2010’s there were a number of high-profile video games launched that coupled digital game environments with physical toys

Mass-market phenomena like Disney Infinity and Activision Skylanders filled toy store aisles with all sorts of physical toy accompaniments.

You get your first diabetic teddy bear for free at the hospital. Who knew so many teddy bears had diabetes?

I know T1D affects only 1 in 300 humans in the US, but it seems like there’s some really bad genes in the teddy bear gene pool. There are literally millions of teddy bears that have been stricken with diabetes.

Better go easy on the honey, there, Winnie the Pooh, or else you might get a bunch of red and green patches sewn onto your softest (and most inject-able) spots (after all, Type 2 diabetics need to finger-prick as well).

Winnie the Pooh

Jerry the Bear has a semi-crappy AR iPhone game. The AR doesn’t work (I only got it to work once out of the 50 times we tried), but the rest of the game is passable. I’ll review it later.
