A Letter to My Daughter
On the Internet, nothing is forgotten. Therefore, when this blog eventually makes it online, one day you will probably read this.
In case there is any confusion, your parents never actually thought of your diabetes as a game. It’s a metaphor. You should know that. We love you, and this was always only about keeping you alive and healthy.
Game designers and those of us in the video games industry look forward to the day we will hand the controller over to our kids, to play together. And eventually, to watch them beat our high scores and do better at new games that we haven’t figured out yet.
In this case, I feel bad handing this off to you. It’s a burden that no child or tween or teenager should have to carry.
I’m sorry.
I guess that’s just another way that diabetes is the worst. game. ever.
Love,
Daddy
